My name is Marek Fronc. I'm an orientalist, a blogger, and a photographer. In 2022, I graduated from the Middle East Studies at Jagiellonian University, Poland, and later taught English in Bahrain.
My biggest interest is in the contemporary history and sociopolitics of the Persian Gulf, where I've spent a total of six years. I wrote my Bachelor's thesis on the militarisation of nationalisms in Saudi Arabia and the UAE.
The goal of this blog is to fill in the gap in the understanding of our closest neighbourhood. In the age of loud headlines, disinformation, and hot takes, calm and reliable spaces are especially important. Arabism is one such space.
In my free time, I like learning languages - apart from English and Polish, I speak Czech, Arabic, and German, and have been learning Swedish. I also read books, and play games.
